The Q Bank

Q Bank turns passed quizzes into Q Bucks that students can spend on merch and perks that you provide.

Q Bank is simple and fun. If you've tried another reading program's version of points-for-prizes, you'll be surprised at how easy this is.

  • Teachers and students can easily track Q Bucks balances
  • Students are not confused between “Points Balance” and “Q Bucks Balance”
  • Award individual or group bonuses
  • Redeem Q Bucks from one student for a perk — or from a whole group for an ice cream party
  • Encourage nonfiction reading with a bonus of up to 100% on every NF quiz passed

Getting Started

  1. Choose a start date. Pick an earlier date and your students will have instant Q Bucks from quizzes they've already passed.
  2. Roll over or reset? Decide if balances carry over at the end of the term or start fresh at zero.
  3. Set the multiplier. 1× or 2× points earned.
  4. Nonfiction bonus? Turn it on if you want to incentivize NF reading.

Set Up Your Store

Now that your students have a Q Bucks balance, what can they spend it on?

Merch — tangible items like lollipops, fidget toys, trading cards, bookmarks.

Perks — privileges and status that you dream up.

This doesn't have to cost a lot! Honestly, perks are valued highly by students and they don't cost you a thing. A few ideas we've seen:

  • Sit by a friend
  • Sit in the teacher's chair
  • Indoor recess
  • Wear a hat in class
  • Play a game on the teacher's computer
  • Lunch with the principal
  • Lunch with friend(s) at the VIP table
  • Picnic lunch with a group

Are you ready to get started? Think about what you'll offer for "inventory." Maybe a few posters in the library to announce the fun. And then… watch the books start flying off the shelves!
